The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 abbreviated ARRA and commonly referred to as the Stimulus or The Recovery Act is an economic stimulus package enacted by the 111th United States Congress in February 2009 and signed into law on February 17, 2009 by President Barack Obama.

Through the ARRA program, which is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), physicians can qualify for up to $63,750 over six years through the Medicaid incentive program or up to $44,000 over five years for Medicare providers.

To qualify, physicians must use a qualifying EHR and meet a variety of requirements involving disease management, clinical decision support, error prevention and electronic communication with patients and other providers.

More information about ARRA incentives is available at www.cms.gov/EHRIncentivePrograms.
